By: G. Ferrari When I was in Prague, Czech Republic, I couldn’t help but notice the bands of people who grouped together, they seemed to be homeless, yet they had money to buy food and beer, and enough food and fresh water for their multitude of dogs. When I asked a local Czech who or what they were, he spat “Dirty Gypsies!” as his response. When people think of Gypsies, they may have an image of the beautiful Esmerelda from Disney’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” in their mind. Who I’m about to address is an entire new generation of modern gypsies that seem to travel coast to coast during the year, going wherever the nice weather is, and avoiding the police as much as possible. And what would constitute a “Dirty Gypsy”? The definition of Gypsy is as follows: |

Check out these tips from Beaucage Lawn & Garden on how to create your own backyard patio. #1 Decide where you want the patio. Usually just out side the back door, off the side of a deck, or a favourite feature area of your yard. Use a string or garden hose to create the shape and outline of where the patio should be located. #2. Set your elevations. Use a level to create a slope away from your house at 1 inch per every 8 feet. #3. Excavate a total area to a depth that equals 3-4 inches in gravel base, plus 1 inch of sand, plus the depth of the patio blocks or paving stones. #4. Spread and level your granular base (gravel) and compact a wet, but not soaked, base. #5. Spread your bedding sand to approximately 1 inch and ensure surface area is still level at proper grade. #6. Lay slabs or pavers using your area’s straightest edge as your starting point. Keep slabs straight and square as you work. Don’t forget to step back and make sure you’re not slightly drifting toward one side. #7. Finish off your patio with a suitable edge to contain your pavers. #8. Back fill with soil or sod, depending on your landscape. #9. Pull out your furniture, sit down, and enjoy! |

Musicians will do a lot of crazy things for their music. And I’m not just talking about 50 cent or JLo’s crazy demands for vanilla candles, special light bulbs for desirable overhead lighting or seven course meals for their entourages. Musicians will do crazy things that are literally for the music and not just for themselves, the artist. Over the years, I’ve heard elaborate stories about musicians, locally and the internationally famous. I’ve also dabbled with wikipedia to see if I could prove these things I’ve heard through the grapevine and found four really outrageous things some celebs have done for their craft. For example, Freddie Mercury of Queen is a notable music legend, and his best-known track, Bohemian Rhapsody, is by all means a masterpiece. |
