What Would June Do?

What Would June Do? is written by two fabulous Winnipeggers,"Muffin" and "Unicorn", who are both in the prime of their dating lives. One has recently met the love of her life while the other is tasting newfound freedom after four long years in a serious relationship. "June" is June Cleaver, who serves to show us just how far we've come AND how little has really changed.

WWJD - Conversation #5: Dating Disclosure

Unicorn:  If you have coffee with Steve on Friday should you tell him you're having lunch with Dave on Saturday? When singledom finds you in your thirties there's not a lot of time to be exclusive, so who wants to waste time dating just one guy? (FYI, that's "dating" not "screwing".)  If you are looking for a serious relationship and dating to find him, when do you disclose, how do you disclose, and should you disclose your dating itinerary?

Muffin: That's a tough one. I have only found myself in that position at one point in my life... and that's right now. I've been dating, seeking Mr. Right, and recently, I found someone who has a whole lot of what I'm looking for – but not everything.  And since I'm not entirely sure, I wonder if there's someone else out there who might be better for me. In the very same breath, I'm afraid there isn't anyone any better.  Still, I want to explore my options... and I want to keep my options open with this guy too. But if I were to tell him, I fear that would put an immediate stop to the proceedings. And I admit I'm too selfish to give that up. I guess I feel like I'm still at the point where my dating itinerary is my own business and I'm a free agent until he and I discuss and decide otherwise.

Kermie had it right when he said, “It ain’t easy being green.” Of course, the little amphibian was referring to the colour of his lime-y complexion, but what’s really interesting is that frogs are actually indicators of the health of our habitat. If you can hear the ribbits in your region, that’s probably a good sign that nature is doing fine. (If you live in a loft downtown, you’re the exception. You don’t want to hear any marsh life living in your quarters.) But, no matter where you live, one thing is for sure: nobody wants to live in an unhealthy environment.

Most of us clean up after ourselves and take care of our immediate living space. We take out the garbage, dust the coffee table and try not to let the laundry pile up. These days, however, there is more and more concern about cleaning up our country.

THE LIPTONIANS

From two high school buddies to five folky pop rock masters, The Liptonians are quickly carving their place in the local music scene. Their self-titled debut album was released just last year, but has since won a Western Canadian Music Award for Outstanding Pop Recording, helped them land in the Top 5 Canadian Bands to Watch in 2008 by The Uniter along with being accepted to showcase at Canadian Music Week 2009. If you’re looking for something laced with danceable piano melodies, blaring horns, polished guitar work and Brit pop inspired vocals, these are your guys.
